Brief 3 - Pitt Rivers Research

The Natural History Museum - Branding by Hat-trick

The use of a logo as a mask for various imagery as part of a brand is something I've seen many times before - I've always particularly liked this branding though. Compared to many museum identities I've seen already this stands out as one of the best thought out and executed.

The range of media it can be applied to is fantastic (see video above) and the photographic element makes for some really breath taking large scale work - as well as the option to update the images without deviating from the brand guidelines.

Hat trick also designed the branding for the NHM subcategories - Opal and Nature Plus

Some of the environmental work here is really beautiful - the bright colours and shapes allow for some fantastic light projections and installations. Lighting and colour has a huge effect on the mood of an exhibition or gallery space, enhancing the imagery that it houses.
